About Knowledge is Power

The Montreal Community Cares Foundation and the Black Law Students’ Association of Canada are organizing the first Savoir, C’est Pouvoir/ Knowledge is Power event for Saturday, August 15, 2015 to be held at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University.

The main goal of the event is to provide youth with empowering tools for professional and personal growth. We also seek to build mentorship opportunities and connections that help address dropout rates affecting Montreal’s youth.

The activities have been designed to be interactive, practical and educational. We are expecting up to 150 local youth between the ages of 12 and 19. For most of them, this event will be the conclusion to “Red Rush,” a summer basketball and leadership program organized by the Montreal Community Cares Foundation. The event begins with an inspirational keynote lecture and is followed by a plenary workshop titled “Know your rights.” The youth will then participate in workshops such as: financial literacy, communication & public speaking, and goal setting.
