This year’s BLSA Canada Chapter of the Year Award goes to the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law!
The chapter ran an impressive array of events and initiatives in furtherance of BLSA Canada’s mission. Chapter members and other students were invited to attend a number of professional development events, such as panels focused on alternative careers in law and succeeding in the OCI process. As well, the chapter engaged with the 2014-2015 national theme, Unity and Diversity: Collaborating to Further Justice, by collaborating with a number of diversity and social justice groups at the faculty to draft a response to the LSUC’s report on racialized licensees.
UOttawa’s See Yourself Here initiative followed a two-week Student for a Day program in which undergraduate students had the opportunity to visit the faculty for tours and attend lectures. The culminating event included a panel on creating a successful law school application and networking with current law students. The chapter also developed some new mentorship and academic support projects this year, including a new online database of summaries.
BLSA Canada’s national executive congratulates you on an outstanding year! We look forward to your continued success!
