Uche Umolu

Uche Umolu is a community leader on the intersection of law, business and advocacy. Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Uche has lived and was educated in London (UK), New York and Toronto. Currently, she is a second-year law student at Queen’s University, Faculty of law and just completed her two-term role as President of the award-winning Queen’s BLSA chapter. At Queen’s Law, Uche is also a ProBono project leader, a tutor to four first-year law students, and one of the Directors of the Queen’s International Law Club. 

Prior to law school, Uche leveraged her Bachelor of Commerce in Digital Business Management, and curated a career in finance, government programming and the nonprofit. Additionally, Uche was an activist passionate about sexual health and reproductive rights, and the Founder & Executive Director of The Consent Workshop - a youth nonprofit providing consent education and resources to youths globally. For her work, Uche has been awarded the United Nations and British Council Canada Youth Innovator award, the City of Toronto Pam McConnell Award for Young Women in Leadership, and recently completed the Women Deliver Young Leaders program. 

Presently, Uche is thoroughly enjoying the law. She spent the first year of law school working in the immigration department of the Don Valley legal aid services, and this summer, she will be joining Stikeman Elliott as a Summer Associate. 

As National Director of Sponsorship, Uche plans not only to increase funding opportunities but also build long lasting relationships that propel our mission to engage Black law students across the country.

Uche Umolu est une figure engagée dans la communauté à l'intersection du droit, des affaires et de la défense des droits. Originaire de Lagos, au Nigeria, Uche a vécu et étudié à Londres (Royaume-Uni), New York et Toronto. Elle est actuellement étudiante en deuxième année de droit à la faculté de droit de l'université Queen's et vient d'achever son double mandat de présidente du chapitre primé de l’AÉND Queen's. À la faculté de droit de l'université Queen's, Uche est également chef de projet ProBono, tutrice de quatre étudiants en première année de droit et l'une des directrices du Queen's International Law Club. 

Avant ses études en droit, Uche a mis à profit son baccalauréat en  commerce et en gestion des affaires numériques et a mené une carrière dans les finances, la programmation gouvernementale et le secteur non lucratif. En outre, Uche est une activiste passionnée par la santé sexuelle et les droits reproductifs, et la fondatrice et directrice exécutive de l’Atelier du consentement - une organisation à but non lucratif pour les jeunes qui fournit une éducation au consentement et des ressources aux jeunes dans le monde entier. Pour son travail, Uche a reçu le prix Youth Innovator des Nations unies et du British Council Canada, le prix Pam McConnell de la ville de Toronto pour les jeunes femmes dirigeantes, et a récemment terminé le programme Women Deliver Young Leaders. 

Actuellement, Uche apprécie pleinement le droit. Elle a passé sa première année d'études de droit à travailler dans le service d'immigration des services d'aide juridique de Don Valley, et cet été, elle rejoindra Stikeman Elliott en tant qu'associée d'été. 

En tant que directrice nationale du parrainage, Uche prévoit non seulement d'augmenter les opportunités de financement, mais aussi de construire des relations durables qui favorisent notre mission à impliquer les étudiants en droit noirs dans tout le pays.
